The Pontiac Sunbird is the Lexus of Cadillacs. I would compare it's performance to the Maserati or Laborghini but, it is faster than both of those combined. The inline 12 cylinder engine has all the torque that you will ever need and the 4 wheel drive will keep the car high in the air at cruising altitudes of 30,000 ft or more. Worried about spilling your coffee or Latte? No problem...no cup holders means that you will always have to hold your own cup thus preventing any chance of spillage.

This is a great poor man's sports car if you have the V-6 3.1 liter engine. It has a good throaty exhaust sound, good low end torque, and is very sharp looking. Comfortable seats in front. Good road manners.

The bad: Quality wasn't job number 1 but it's not terrible. There are worst cars, believe me. The Alternators are trouble spots, though mine hasn't gone bad. Also, they say it has cooling issues. Again, no problems, but I just recently bought mine & have only put 1,800 miles on it. It's common for the top of the dash by the radio to become undone(unglued) I think the 92 thru 94 models are more attractive because the 91 has that ugly black rubber molding that goes around the whole car. The other years, the molding is color coordinated with a contrasting color inside. (Good change.)

Find one in good condition, & I think you be quiet pleased, however, people have driven the hell out of some of these cars, and let the maintenance go. (Not changing the coolant, trans oil, etc) but again, a well taken care of Sunbird should give you years of driving enjoyment! A plus is the V-6's have a timing chain, instead of the rubber belt. This will give you a longer interval between timing belt/changes much more durable as well.

this car keeps getting me to work reliably. Only had one problem in 10 years of ownership ( some kind of electronic control module for tranny which cost me a whopping $62.00). Car holds 5 for commuting. In 2002 I commuted 35 miles up 3500 foot elevation gain every day all winter long. It ain't pretty but it gets the job done.
