I bought a red 2006 Pontiac G6 GT coupe in February 2006. I have enjoyed this car tremendously. I compared it to the Monte Carlo, which I felt was stripped compared to the G6 even though it cost more.
The only differences between the top-of-the-line GTP model and my GT model are the GTP has a 3.9L engine vs. my 3.5L, and the GTP has a more sophisticated traction control system.
I feel the car was a good buy for the money with the option package I got, which included a 6-CD changer, 3 months free XM, leather interior, power sunroof, heated seats, 17" chrome alloy wheels, and a remote starter.
It has good storage capacity as the back seats fold down.
The car gets me so many compliments. People frequently stop me in the parking lot and ask what it is and how I like it. A red one like mine is sure to draw looks if you keep it looking sharp.
On the down side, it is very difficult to get into the back seat, although once you're in it's comfortable for two large adults. If this is a problem, consider the sedan.
I also do not like the traction control. Several times I have spun the tires trying to start quickly from a stop. It will hydroplane if you try to start quickly from a stop when the pavement is wet.
Also, there is a recall out on it already — something about the sunroof; I haven't taken mine in to be fixed yet as I just received the notice a few days ago.
I actually chose my particular car on the Internet, since Pontiac has all of their window stickers online, so you can see each dealer's stock and price.
Overall, this car is fun to drive and comfortable for long commutes. I find the aggressive styling very attractive, and love the compliments I get! Source: eBay Motors Reviews |
2007 Pontiac G6: Good car, very poor milage I bought this car brand new off the lot. I wanted the 4 cylinder for the 33MPG rating and a automatic transmission. I liked the way the car handled, better than a lot of vehicles that I drove. It was sharp looking, and had a decent amount of options for the price.
It has been 3,000 miles since. I started with 22MPG, mostly highway. I have had this car in once for issues with gas milage. I was told that the on-board computer was flashed with a new update and that I should see an increase. I have been told many things: new software, thick OEM oil, a 3000 mile break in period... just about anything that you can think of to explain the reason for the poor gas milage. None have shown to be the reason.
Stay away from the 2.4L 4 cylinder as it is a gas hog, if you have to get the car, get the V6. Source: eBay Motors Reviews |

I love the feel and roadability of this car. It handled big city traffic with ease and then when unleashed on the interstates it was a nimble and quick cat. It has all the features to make a trip relaxing and enjoyable. Creature comfort? Every last one of them !!! This is the bargain of the year. And there are more of them available on Ebay.
