I am writing on behalf of my wife, who placed the winning bid on this vehicle (a 1988 Pontiac Fiero). I flew to Texas and drove the car back. The seller met me at the airport and dove me to his house in the vehicle. This vehicle has been described by the owner as one he would not hesitate to drive anywhere, but I heard a knock in the engine. I decided to take the vehicle anyway, because the frame was not rusted at all. Also the unique paint job was not as good as it looked on Ebay. On the way back, the car stalled each time I stopped (for example, at a light), and wouldn't re-start for several minutes. After the 2nd of these stalls, I called the seller with 2nd thoughts, and he said "That never happened before". I deciced to see if it was a fluke and drove a little more. Another stall, and I called again. I heard the phone answered and was hung up on. I managed to find a car parts store and got some fuel injector cleaner and some R134 for the AC (it wasn't working). I put in the injector cleaner and R134 (got the AC working) and drove on. I drove on. There were more stalls, and I called twice more and got only the sellers voice mail. I had long forgotten how to get back to his house so I kept going. Eventually the car quit stalling (maybe the injector cleaner worked), and I made it to Georgia. I put the car up on stands and dropped the oil pan, and found that the cause of the knock was a spun oil bearing (not real safe to drive on). After a couple of weeks of work, I got the engine running just fine. It's a good car now, but the seller's treatment of me was completely unsatisfactory. I would not recommend you buy from this seller. Source: eBay Motors Reviews |

I had owned a new 1986 Fiero, so I knew I would like this one that I successfully bid on on 02/12/07. The car looked good and it was supposed to be owned by the seller with clear title. There were no problems having the car shipped from California to Kentucky. I really can't comment to much about the car in terms of performance, etc. as I am unable to drive it. The title arrived in the name of a car dealer, not the seller, so Kentucky would not transfer the title into my name. Having returned the title and having made several requests for the problem to be corrected, I am still without such title and cannot get any responses to my e-mails. This would seem to be a serious problem with the ebay car sales process.
In short, I love the car, but after payed promptly for it on 02/17/07 and suffering the expense of having it shipped two thirds of the way accross the continent, it is looking as though I may have to start legal proceedings as my next recourse, not to mention what my feedback will say.
I know that this is supposed to be a review of the product, but you asked for it and such a review is seriously compromised by the circumstances of the purchase. If there is anything you can do before I report this to IC3 for investigation of fraud to sell a car accross state lines, please do so.

This is a MERA. The guys at the factory sent the 1987-88 Formulas out to be re-skinned to look like a 308 then they were returned and sold through the dealer network....until the guys in Italy got wind of it and shut it down. There were only 247 ever made and quite a few less are around today. This car is the best of the "kit-car" world as the work was done at a real factory and 22 years on....the car still has good fit and finish, drives like a dream and does nto have all the extra noise, creeks, rattles, etc... you ALWAYS get with a kit re-build. If you have the choice of getting a MERA or building a kit.... go with the MERA and improve from there.... The only bad thing I can say about this car is that it still has the stock interior....there are several coversions that will trnasform the inside to match the outside....
