The Honda del Sol, like many other Hondas, is an exceptionally reliable vehicle. With recomended maintenance, the del Sol will out live us all. With the craftmanship learned through the development of the Honda CRX, and many variations of the Honda Civic, the del Sol was the first true Sports car developed by Honda(with the exception of the NSX). The Honda S2000 was based solely on the pros and cons of the Honda del Sol, which shows how much faith Honda themselves have in the del Sol. The Honda del Sol, although small and lacking in the storage area, is a superb automobile; with great gas milage, extreme comfort(up to 4 hrs at a time), and quite the eye catcher. Although the number is limited, due to lack of maintenace and TLC, the 'endangered species' if you will, is on the come back. The del Sol has been one of the sport compact enthousiet's newest addition to be upgraged in many ways; such as aftermarket headlights, taillights, body kits, and engine upgrades. Just a personal tip, when considering the purchase of a del Sol, automatic transmissions are a thing of the past, and if possible, get a DOHC model (the rarest model available, but also the premium model). The DOHC model has some of the following features above the other two models: obviously more hp, v-tec, abs, four wheel disk brakes. The Si model also has v-tec and four wheel disk brakes, so if you can not get a hold of the DOHC model, at least get the Si. Hope this review aids you in your outlook toward purchasing one of the rarest honda available. By the way, the Honda del Sol was built from 1993-1997; any one selling a different year, is not selling a del Sol.
