Well, here I go again. In an attempt to be true to the form, I have purchased 2004 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro with 79K miles on it. I need to mention THE FORM. The form is that I purchase a higher mileage 3 year old vehicle and use it for a year. 2003 Acura TL Type S being the previous one, 2004 Audi A6 2.7T Quattro should make quite a good replacement. First things first. Interior is a good notch better than Acura. You get a feeling that someone cares for you somewhere in Germany. I will fail to describe it. It is like moving from a high volume highway to a serene scenic drive. I hope you get the picture. Now, there is nothing serene about A6 abilities. Well, having said that, I should mention that in case that you want to drive serenely, by all means, it is your choice and the vehicle will accommodate your desires. Let’s imagine, for the purity of the conversation, that you desired to push it to its limits, wave through the lanes and take some sharp turns. All of a sudden you realize that all that time you have had a tiger in your hands. Effortless high speed corners, thanks to Quattro all-wheel drive, abundant torque at any rpm, thanks to nearly perfect gear ratio and twin-turbo under the hood, gives you a feeling of driving a smaller and sportier vehicle. The cons are simple. There are significantly higher repair costs then average. I have had to replace the timing belt along with one of the sensors. The whole thing offset me $450 (it is likely to be $1000 at the dealer). So consider significantly higher maintenance and repair costs. I hope you can find this info useful. Over-engineered. Maintenance costs are high. Quattro system is unsurpassed for Alaska winters. Interior finishes are very nice. I just had to have the sport seats but they are not very comfortable on the seat for larger people (I am 6-2, 220 lbs.). I understand now why many Audi's are leased vehicles to begin with. Market value of vehicle drops significantly after four years. I got what I thought was a screaming deal on my eBay purchase, but immediately upon arrival of shipment I had to dump over $3,000 into the car, but most of it would have been scheduled maintenance including timing belt. Local mechanics have told me many people purchase an Audi then cannot afford to maintain them properly or pay for expensive fixes. I got the 4.2 liter V8 and would buy no other engine. Gas mileage compared to the 2.8 turbo is a non-issue. I love the look and driving feel of the car, but will probably buy Acura or AWD Lexus next time for reliability. Source: eBay Motors Reviews |

Love the quality and craftsmanship of the car. Owned a used 97 that treated me well and I survived a rollover accident in it. The roof crushed only to a point that I survived. Feeling safe and liking the style of the car during that time period I purchased this used 96 which has exact features. Electronics on Audi cars are typical minor issues, but the car is well manufactured. It is my favorite mid-size comfort car with luxuries and classic style. AWD is a must in the snow and this car offers that. I recommend this car to everyone. Source: eBay Motors Reviews |
